Fiji 2-DOLLARS (KM-new) Peregrine Falcon
There is a special sub-species of Peregrine Falcon in Fiji called "the Islander" (Falco peregrinus nesiotes). It likes the islands so much, it never migrates.
Fiji re-issued this larger, thicker coin after public complaints that the 2012 issue was too hard to distinguish from the $1 coin. Another change is the Spanish Flower edge, which helps distinguish the $2 coin from the $1 coin, especially for visually impaired people.
Like the rest of the Fijian fauna coin series, the name is shown in the Fijian language (Ga ni vatu), and the animal is endangered.
