Phoenix

This is the first 20 lepta coin issued during the monetary period of the Third Modern Drachma (1954-2001). The obverse features the Phoenix, the mythological bird described by the ancient Greek historian Herodotus as one of the animals of Egypt.

This coin was issued one year only, in 1973.
