Burundi 5-FRANCS (KM28) Trumpeter hornbill

In 2014, Burundi issued a commemorative set of coins featuring birds. The combined mintage of 1.8 million indicates they are intended for circulation.

The Trumpeter hornbill (aka Bycanistes bucinator) is found in tropical evergreen forests where they typically hang out in groups of two to five, but sometimes gangs as large as 50. They are popular birds for pets and can develop close relationships with people.
