Scarlet macaw
The Scarlet macaw (Ara macao) is the quintessential parrot to me. That is, the one that appeared in cartoons and on pirates' shoulders. Probably because of the crazy red, yellow, blue, and white colour scheme.
Although Scarlet macaws have suffered local extinctions due to habitat loss and capture for the pet trade, their conservation status is "least concern" and they still enjoy a sizable range across most of northern South America.
