There are over 60 different species of Flying fish from up to nine different genera living in all the oceans, but mostly in warm tropical waters. The waters around Tuvalu are home to two main genera: Cheilopogon and Cypselurus. I believe this coin depicts the latter. Flying fish are important in Tuvalu, and are caught mainly at night using lights and scoop nets.
