Lithuania 2-LITAI (KM183)

Fish

In 2012 Lithuania issued a series of circulating commemorative coins celebrating Lithuania's resort towns on the reverse.

The coin for Birštonas features a very unusual fish, which I originally thought was a whale. A whale with fangs, and... gills, I guess. However, it is definitely a fish, despite the water spout coming from the top of its head. The image is from the city's coat of arms, and symbolizes the mineral water springs that are vital to this resort town.
