Moldova 2-LEI (KM-new) Aurochs
Moldova issued a new coin family in 2018, consisting of four coins that together form the image of the head of an aurochs. (Which will be shown here when I have acquired all four coins.)
An aurochs is an extinct species of very large wild cattle, and is the ancestor of all modern day cows. It is also one of two unofficial national animal emblems of Moldova. (The other is the sheep.) On the new 2-lei coin, we have the left side of the aurochs' head with a beautiful anthropomorphic sun beside.
Huge thanks to Maria for donating this coin!
