Isle of Man 2-PENCE (KM34) Manx Shearwater
After decimalization in 1971, the coins featured the prefix "new" (as in 2 New Pence). This is the second decimalized coin issued, and the first to drop the "new" prefix. It was minted from 1976 to 1979. This is also the first appearance of the Manx shearwater on the Isle of Man coinage.
The Manx shearwater is a long-lived marine bird, with individuals known to live over 50 years. Their scientific name is Puffinus puffinus, which dates back to the 17th century. This is confusing, because they are not closely related to puffins (different Genus, Family, AND Order. Only when you get back to the class -- Aves, aka "birds" -- are they related.
