The Common shag is a species of Cormorant. The Shag is one of the deepest divers in the cormorant family: it dives to at least 45 m, with dives lasting 20-45 seconds. Their nests are found mainly on rocky ledges or in crevices or small caves, and are made from messy piles of rotting seaweed and twigs glued together with their own poop.
