Germany 1-EURO (KM213) Bundesadler (Eagle)

Originally named Reichsadler ("Imperial Eagle" or "National Eagle"), this heraldic eagle dates back to the Roman eagle standard used by Holy Roman Emperors. The name was changed to Bundesadler ("Federal Eagle") in 1945 with the formation of the Federal Republic of Germany.

In 2002 Germany switched to the euro and both the regular 1- and 2-euro coins feature a brand new version of the stylized Bundesadler.
