Bahamas 1-CENT (KM59a)

Starfish

The Starfish has appeared on the Bahamian 1-cent coin from the beginning of the Bahama's own coinage in 1966. (Before then, Bahamians used the coins of Great Britain.) Starting in 1985 the coins were changed from Brass to Copper-clad Zinc.

Starfish are members of the Phylum Echinodermata, which makes them quite distinct from other animal types in the Coin Zoo.
