Andorra 2-EURO CENT (KM521)

Pyrenean chamois + Vulture

The Pyrenean chamois is a goat antelope that lives in the Pyrenees mountains of Andorra. As its name says, its skin was used to make chamois leather which was so popular that it -- and other chamois species -- was almost hunted to extinction. The population has since recovered and is now at a healthy size.

Soaring high above the chamois is an Old World vulture, probably a Griffon vulture as I believe they are indigenous to the area.
