India 10-RUPEES (KM430)

Bengal Tiger

This coin commemorates the shakti peetha (consecrated temple) Vaishno Devi, which is a manifestation of the Mother-Goddess, Durga. (So... the temple is the goddess?) Anyway, that's her (Durga) riding on the back of a tiger. Or a lion. Either cat is fine for her.

As you can tell, my knowledge of Hinduism is weak. But I do love its many colourful and bizarre manifestations upon our mortal plane. Yeah.
