The Eastern Great Egret (Ardea alba modesta) is a white heron that most taxonomists consider a sub-species of the Great Egret. In New Zealand it is known as kotuku.
New Zealand introduced 1- and 2-dollar coins in 1991 to replace the existing notes. The same kotuku design also appears on KM121 (with updated portrait of the queen).
All coin images in Daniel's Coin Zoo are from my personal collection. I collect, research, and personally photograph every coin displayed on this site. PLEASE do not take my images without permission. If you would like to use any coin image you see, just ask me. Thank you.
