USA 25-CENTS (2018)

In 2010, the US Mint launched the "America the Beautiful" quarters program. Five quarters will be issued each year through 2020 (and one in 2021), for a total of 56 different designs. Each quarter will depict a national park or site from each of the 50 states, the federal district, and each territory). Rhode Island's coin features Block Island National Wildlife Refuge, a 127 acre wildlife sanctuay about 19 km off the coast of Block Island.

The Black-crowned night heron is a medium-sized heron found all over the world. They are ambush hunters, and can be seen standing still in the shallow water at night or early morning, waiting to spear fish, frogs, insects, small mammals, or other birds.
