Goitered Gazelle

The Goitered gazelle (Gazella subgutturosa) is also known as the Jeyran, Persian, or Black-tailed gazelle, depending on the area. It runs really fast, but without all the leaping that is typical of other species of gazelle. But that doesn't mean it never leaps, like the one on this coin is doing.

I originally thought these were "fantasy" coins, created by Armenia as a political move to help gain recognition for the NKR (which later became the Republic of Artsakh). However, it seems that the Artsakh dram is official legal tender within the republic, although, the people mainly use the Armenian dram.
