Karabakh Horse

The Karabakh horse is a breed that was developed in the Nagorno-Karabakh region, and is known for being hardy, strong, tough, and sure-footed. All the better for racing through the mountains of its homeland.

And can they race. In 2004, a Karabakh horse set a speed record by running 1,000 m in 69 seconds, and 1,600 m in 1 minute 52 seconds. If my calculations are correct, that's 52 km/h over the first klick, and slight slowing to only 51 km/h for the entire 1.6 kilometers.

I originally thought these were "fantasy" coins, created by Armenia as a political move to help gain recognition for the NKR (which later became the Republic of Artsakh). However, it seems that the Artsakh dram is official legal tender within the republic, although, the people mainly use the Armenian dram.
