Moldova 1-LEU (KM-new)

Aurochs

Moldova issued a new coin family in 2018, consisting of four coins that together form the image of the head of an aurochs.

An aurochs is an extinct species of very large wild cattle, and is the ancestor of all modern day cows. It is also one of two unofficial national animal emblems of Moldova. (The other is the sheep.) On the new 1-leu coin, we have the right side of the aurochs' head with a beautiful anthropomorphic moon beside.

Huge thanks to Maria for donating the Moldova coin set!
