San Marino 1000-LIRE (KM430)

Non-circulating coin

Doves

Apparently this coin is part of a series known as 17 Centuries of Liberty, and this 2001 issue celebrates Colombe, a commune in southeastern France. Columbe has a coat of arms that features a dove in one of its sections, which leads me to conclude that the five birds circling the reverse of this coin are doves.

I particularly like the representations of San Marino's three towers on the obverse.
