This 2011 circulating commemorative coin is from the "History of Polish Cavalry" series and features the Uhlan, or Polish Light Cavalry.
The Uhlan have their origins in the 18th century, and continued fighting into the 20th century, including World War II. However, contrary to popular myth, the Polish Cavalry did not charge German tanks with lances.
