This circulating commemorative coin features the coat of arms of Zemgale (aka Semigallia), one of four historical and cultural centres of Latvia. The beastie on this coin is a moose, except it is in Europe so it is actually called an Elk (possibly a "Silver elk"). This is confusing, since in North America an elk is a completely different animal.
Thanks to Maria for donating this coin to the zoo!
