Isle of Man 10-PENCE (KM62)

Peregrine Falcon

The Isle of Man features a healthy population of Peregrine falcons, and one appears on the island's coat of arms. Which is why I am calling this fellow as a Peregrine falcon, despite the entire internet saying it is a Gyrfalcon. While Gyrfalcons are found on Isle of Man, they are very rare. Unless I am missing something, there is nothing on this engraving that would indicate it is one or the other, so I will stick with the animal on the country's coat of arms.

If anybody has an original source identifying this bird, please contact me.
