Swaziland is a monarchy, and the arms of His Majesty the King with a lion and elephant appear on many of their coins.
The original 50 cent 12-sided coins (KM12, 43, and 52, with different obverse portraits) were replaced by a slightly smaller round coin in 2011, which was replaced by this slightly smaller (again) coin in 2015. If these coins keep shrinking, they will eventually become like the miniature elephant that appears on them.
All coin images in Daniel's Coin Zoo are from my personal collection. I collect, research, and personally photograph every coin displayed on this site. PLEASE do not take my images without permission. If you would like to use any coin image you see, just ask me. Thank you.
