Venezuela 10-CENTIMOS (Y89) Horse

The running horse has appeared on Venezuelan coins from the 1870s, always running to the right and except for a few early coins it has always been looking back over its shoulder.

Then, in 2007, the running horse finally turned around and started running in the direction it had always been looking. To the left. This marks monetary reform, with 1,000 Bolivares being replaced by one new Bolivar Fuerte.

The 10 centimos coin from the previous monetary period (the Bolivar, 1879-2007) was 21 mm. This new coin is smaller, and was minted in 2007, 2009, and 2012.

  • Diameter: 18 mm
  • Composition: Nickel-clad steel
  • CAT#: Y89
