Seychelles 5-CENTS (2016)

Black Snail

The 5 cent coin features a pair of Black snails, aka Pachnodus niger. This endangered land snail is found in a small 8 square kilometer area of Seychelles and as of 2005 there were only about 8,000 individuals remaining. There are two sub-species found on two different islands, each numbering in the thousands. Luckily, these small populations are considered stable, but they are vulnerable to further habitat loss.
