Lebanon 10-PIASTRES (KM15) Lion
After achieving independence from France in 1943, new coins were issued. This 10-piastre coin features a similar cartoon-like lion head to the 5-piastre coin. In this case, the lion has a fatter head and the mane does not extend below the lower jaw. Both are kind of wonderful in a weird sort of way. Oddly, the lower denomination coin was minted in a heavier golden-coloured metal, while this higher denomination piece is light-weight aluminum.
This coin was minted in 1952 only and the reverse features a Lebanese cedar tree.
