Cyprus 1-MIL (KM38)

Dove

Cyprus switched from the old British pound to a decimalized pound in 1955, with 1000 mils to the pound (after 1983 they switched to 100 cents to the pound).

This 1 mil coin is the first issue of the era, and was minted in 1963, 1971, and 1972 only. The Cypriot coat of arms, featuring a dove with an olive branch, appeared on many coins of this era.
