The Krause catalogue identifies this as a Great White Egret, however, the Singapore mint describes the design as "a snake-bird sitting in its nest and preening its feathers."
Snakebirds -- also called darters -- are tropical waterbirds in the family Anhingidae (the "Ahingas"). There are four living species of darters, and the Oriental Darter is the one found in Singapore and the bird that is depicted on this coin. They build stick nests in trees.
