First issued in 1972 (KM#1), this thrush has been a standard on the reverse of the 1-cent coin. It also appears on KM#26, 87, and 131 (obverse and composition changes).
Attempts to google "great caiman thrush" (and "great cayman thrush") turn up references to this coin only, but not the bird itself. However, the Grand Cayman Thrush is listed as an extinct species. Perhaps this coin is honouring the "Grand Cayman Thrush"?

The Cayman Islands are comprised of three islands -- Grand Cayman, Little Cayman, and Cayman Brac -- about 290 km north-west of Jamaica. The islands have been under British control since 1670, but achieved a form of self-government in 1972, when the islands first coinage was issued.
