Denmark 2-KRONER (KM820) Dolphin

In 1873 Denmark underwent monetary reform and adopted the krone, subdivided into 100 ore. This is the second silver 2 kroner coin from that period and was minted in 1915 and 1916 only.

Dolphins are an ancient omen of good luck, and fair weather. Its appearance here is probably a nod to Denmark's history as a seafaring nation dating back to the 10th century. To the right of the coat of arms is a stalk of wheat, because Denmark was leading the way in the agricultural revolution.
