Denmark 10-ORE (KM795) Dolphin
In 1873 Denmark underwent monetary reform and adopted the krone, subdivided into 100 ore. This coin is from the first set of that period and was minted from 1874 to 1905.
Dolphins are an ancient omen of good luck, and fair weather. Its appearance here is probably a nod to Denmark's history as a seafaring nation dating back to the 10th century. Beside the dolphin is a stalk of wheat, because Denmark was leading the way in the agricultural revolution.
