Denmark 1-ORE (KM792) Dolphin
In 1873 Denmark underwent monetary reform and adopted the krone, subdivided into 100 ore. This is the first coin of that period, minted from 1874 to 1904.
Dolphins are an ancient omen of good luck, and fair weather. Its appearance here is probably a nod to Denmark's history as a seafaring nation dating back to the 10th century. Beside the dolphin is a stalk of wheat, because Denmark was leading the way in the agricultural revolution.
