Bulgaria 2-STOTINKI (KM238) Horse

In 1999, Bulgaria introduced their "Fourth Lev" series of coinage.

The obverses of the 1-50 stotinki coins depict the Madara Rider on his horse, killing a lion with a spear. This image is taken from a large carving 100 m up on a cliff face. Inscriptions with the sculpture chronicle events throughout the 8th century.
