Albania ¼-LEKU (KM3)

Lion

In Albania, this 'lion walking left' design appeared exclusively on this one coin, which was minted in 1926 and 1927 only. While lions do appear on several Albanian family coat of arms from the 12th and 13th century, there is no particular cultural association with lions.

This particular lion engraving is extremely attractive and well executed.
