Kazakhstan 50-TENGE 2012 Giant Asian Mantis

Hierodula is a genus of mantis with at least 100 individual species, one of which -- Hierodula tenuidentata -- appears on this coin. Many of these species are known by the common name Giant Asian Mantis. There are more than 2,400 mantis species worldwide (430 genera in 15 different families). That's a lot of bugs.

The denomination "tenge" means "scale" in Kazakh.
