India 1-PICE (KM1) Horse

The horse on this coin appears to be quite spirited. Unfortunately, the Zoo Keeper has no idea of the significance.

Until 1957, when India's coins went decimal, there were 4 pice to 1 anna and 16 annas to 1 rupee. This is the first coin issued for the independent Republic of India.
