India 1-ANNA (KM3) Zebu Bull

Zebus (Bos taurus indicus) are a humped cattle (aka cow) of which there are about 75 known breeds. In India, known breeds make up less than 20% of the cattle population. The rest are cross-bred due to their sacred nature (they get free rein in many areas, and they don't get eaten).

Although the animal on this coin is sometimes identified as a Brahman Bull, that is not possible, since the Brahman breed was developed in the United States from cattle imported from India.

There are 4 pice to 1 anna, and 16 annas in a rupee.

  • Diameter: 20.9 mm
  • Composition: Copper-Nickel
  • CAT#: KM3.2
