The African Fish Eagle is one of 11 species of sea eagles of which the Bald Eagle is also a member. At first glance, this large (up to 2.4 metre wingspan) bird of prey looks like its close cousin, but where the Bald Eagle's white head stops at the neck, the African Fish Eagle's pure white plumage continues much further into the breast area.
They eat mainly fish that they grab from lakes. If their catch weighs too much, they will drag it across the surface of the water to the shore. If it weighs too much for even that, they will actually drop into the water and swim to shore using their wings.
