This large half-silver 50-franc coin with its tusked elephant walking to the left was minted in 1944 only.
Although there were a million of them minted, they are hard to come by. Old silver coins have habit of getting melted down and now demand exceeds supply. With this addition to the Coin Zoo, the Belgian Congo section is now complete!
