Angola
Angola started with Portuguese settlements and trading posts in the 16th century and independence from Portugal was achieved in 1975 after a prolonged armed struggle. This was followed by decades of internal warfare.
Things started to improve in the 21st century, and a new democratic constitution was adopted in 2010.
