The Economic Union of Central African States is a monetary union of countries in Central Africa. Members include Cameroon, Central African Republic, Chad, Republic of Congo, Equatorial Guinea, and Gabon. The union traces its history back to 1960, and the formation of the Equatorial African States which was a customs union. In 1966, an expanded version called the Central African Customs and Economic Union went into effect. In 1974 the Central Bank of the Equatorial African States changed its name to the Bank of the Central African States. The flag shown here is actually the African Union flag, of which all the countries of the Central African States are members.
